Prison Fellowship Prayer Team

Prayer Team: Ten years ago, five-year-old Jamie’s family was falling apart. “"I was upset that [my dad] wasn't in my life," he recalls about his father’s time in prison. But Angel Tree offered hope to Jamie and his brother, George. "Even though he was gone, the Angel Tree presents made me remember he was going to come back into my life eventually."
Today, father and son are reunited, and all because of a simple gift given at Christmastime. "[Angel Tree] saved our relationship," Jamie’s dad, Scott, says. "The [gift] means so much to the children, but it's the love that means more."
Please pray for the tenuous relationships between incarcerated parents and their children. Pray that their efforts to reach out to one another in love will not return back void.

Touch their hearts remind them that You are so totally in control! Father, in the name of Jesus, we bind forces of darkness that are interfering and producing confusion in these relationships. Susan K. Glorious Heavenly Father, great in mercy and compassion, abounding in steadfast love, we come boldly to Your Throne of Grace to praise You for using the ministry of Prison Fellowship through Project Angel Tree to reunite Jamie and Scott. We praise You that they are just a few of the many for whom this has happened through the work of Your Holy Spirit in this ministry. I praise You for fulfilling Your Word that You would turn the hearts of the parents to the children and the hearts of the children to the parents. Surely the enemy of our souls has tried by his many evil means to destroy families. I glorify Your Name that even the separation of family members due to incarceration is not greater than Your Love, that You have used every member of the Body outside of prison walls who is willing to help extend the reach of parents inside prison walls to their children. I praise You for making a way where there seemed to be no way, for taking what the enemy meant for evil when Chuck Colson went to prison and turning it into the highest good that has impacted and blessed so many that only You know all the names and stories. I thank You for the way this ministry if a life-changer for inmates, their families, those who minister to them and many others who are observers. This exemplary testimony of how You used Prison Fellowship as well as other means, other ministries and other believers to be the bridge of reconciliation and restoration is of great encouragement to those of us who have heard and responded to your call to minister to inmates and their families. I thank You for this encouragement and for the chance to lift it back to You in praise and in petition that it may please You to continue it exponentially. People who don't know Jesus and who are unaware of the ways of Your Kingdom think that a prison sentence is a dead-end but through You it is clear that it can be a new beginning in many ways. Halleluia - all glory to You for it is in the Name of Your Son Jesus that I lift this prayer. Amen and amen.

Janice G. Heavenly Father, You are wonderous in all You have done and are doing every day. The blessings You give are infinite in number. I thank You for how You have let love be triumphant in the lives of Jamie and his dad, Scot and all of their family. Love is the greatest force on earth. Your word tells us You are love. I pray for You to continue to break the chains that have bound those in situations of incarceration. Please let the relationships of the imprisoned parents with their children be built upon the Rock of Jesus. May the church play a redeeming part in their lives. Thank You for Angel Tree and all the various meanings that ministry has to the lives of the prison population. Thank You, Jesus, for going after the one lost sheep. I pray in the name of the good Shepherd, Jesus. Amen.
February 4th
Wren S. Heavenly Father, you said knock and the door shall be opened, seek and ye shall find. So today, in the wee small hours in the morning, when we are still in darkness, I pray that your love light would shine in the lives of those in and now out of prison; especially where there are children concerned. You said, “Suffer the little children to come unto me”. So I pray today especially for the relationships between the prisoners and their children. Let God’s love touch the hearts and minds of the men and women, so that they may in turn pray for their own children and their relationship with them. Love can be so fragile when there is no trust. I pray these precious children will be able to find Jesus and invite him into their hearts. Hopefully they will be able to forgive the parent whose actions literally separated them. So many fathers and sons have difficulties with their relationships; even when prison isn’t involved. It can at times be impossible for some to say the words “I love you”, but they not only need to be said, they need to be meant, and accepted by both the father and the son. I ask that your all-encompassing love for each and every one of us be demonstrated to these prisoners and their loved ones. You are our only hope Lord Christ. In you we need to put our trust, our complete trust. I pray that your merciful heart will touch Scott, Jamie and George, as they try to maintain and grow together as a family. I also ask that if they haven’t accepted you as their Lord and Savior, that the opportunity to do so will present itself. Hopefully they will recognize Jesus in others and want what they see. It is a glorious gift. We praise you because you are worthy to be praised. We thank you for the sacrifice of your one and only Son that we might have eternal life. Amen

Deb H. Father, we know that our lives are in Your powerful, strong hands. Please help those who struggle with pain and doubt, lonliness and despair - please bless them with Your loving touch. You said that ALL THINGS work for good for those who love You. We claim this promise and cling to it as a thread of hope. Father, there is a lot of pain in the families of those who are incarcerated. Please stand in the gap for those precious children who long to be with their parents. Dear Father, please hear our prayer for peace and healing for all these families. Please make a way where there seems to be no way. You are our hope - there is no greater or more powerful Name in all the world but Yours - thank you Father, thank you Jesus, thank you Holy Spirit - all glory and honor to You.

Prayer Team: When Mary calls her two little girls – ages two and 10 months – from prison, their grandmother holds the phone to their tiny ears. “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine,” Mary softly sings over the phone line. “You make me happy when skies are gray. You’ll never know dears, how much I love you …” Her voice cradles them in a gentle lullaby, and her empty arms ache to hold them close. “Please don’t take my sunshine away.”
This Christmas, Angel Tree allowed Mary to reach out to her babies with all the things she longed to give them but couldn’t. Please pray for mothers like Mary, whose hearts are shattered by the separation of incarceration, that they will find true and lasting joy in Jesus Christ.

Susan K. Glorious Heavenly Father, I come boldly and gratefully to Your Throne of Grace to lift Mary and all other incarcerated mothers and their children to You. Your Word says that you gently lead those who are with young. I believe this reveals a special tenderness You have for mothers and their children. I know it is Your plan that children be with their parents and You are grieved even more than we are when that doesn't happen. I praise You that there is nothing that can happen that takes You by surprise or that You can't use for good. I praise You that while Mary is in prison, You are with her and also with her children. Through the unending and unfailing reign and influence of Your kingdom, though they are apart physically they are not apart in other ways and their bond of love is not broken. I praise you for the work of Prison Fellowship and other ministries that serve as bridges of connection for that bond. I praise you that through Your kingdom reign by which You fulfill Your promises, You restore the years the locust have eaten and You use all things together for the good for those who love You and who are called according to Your purpose. While it is hard during the time the separation must be endured, You lift it's heaviness for those who turn to You and who choose to let Your joy be their strength. I praise and thank you for this for Mary and all other incarcerated mothers. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Wren S. Heavenly Father, you know all the heartbreak that this family and others like them go though. I pray that you would continue to be revealed to them through you servants here on earth. We are your arms to hold them, your ears to hear their prayers, tears or praises. You hear them if they are angry or resentful. I pray that though all of the emotions Mary's family and others like them would know of your love. Your love comes from redemption. When we sin, there has to be judgement, because you are a just God. Because you are a loving God there is forgiveness. We then can be joined with you because Jesus paid the price for all of ours sins: past, present and future for all mankind, when he hung on the cross. It is only because of the debt that he paid, can we be reconciled with Him.
Please put people in the lifes of Mary, her children and the grandmother, that will love them like Jesus does and through them feel his forgiveness, mercy and His grace. Amen

Wren S. Heavenly Father, I can come boldly to the foot of your throne and ask you for mercy and grace because of the precious blood that was shed by your only begotten son Jesus Christ. So today I do pray that you will give Mary the strength to go through what ever trials and tribulations come her way, I pray also that she has the sure knowledge that you will never leave her or forsake her. She has been blessed by 2 of your little ones. We know how important children are to you Lord. When Christ disciples wanted to send them away you chastised them Lord. I pray that they will grow up knowing your love and following the path that you have planned for them. I pray that Mary will see that light of your love and receive the peace that passes all understanding; not an easy feat when she is in jail. I thank you that there is a grandmother that is taking care of these precious ones and if she doesn't know Christ yet that you put the right people in her path and that she can teach her grandchildren what true love, mercy and grace is. Janice G. Heavenly Father, You are Father to all the children on the Angel Tree lists for gifting. You know each one even to the number of hairs on their heads. I pray You will enable each child to be located and have their gifts delivered along with the love of Jesus. May their hearts be filled with the joy of His love and knowing that they are not forgotten for Jesus goes looking for every lost lamb. I pray for effective outreaches to carry forward into the lives touched for all of 2012. May the children who are able to attend church be accepted by their Sunday School classmates with love and friendliness. I pray the teachers will be discerning of what to say while teaching so that the children always feel lifted up and not in anyway put down. Give church members extraordinary sensitivity in their relationships with these fragile children and families. Thank You for what You are doing in the lives of Ilias and Mekhia, their parents and other families in the same situation they are in. You are an awesome God Who always cares more than we can think or imagine. All honor, praise and glory to You today and always. In the blessed name of Jesus, Amen

Prayer Team: “I am praising God I was able to find and talk to all of our families,” long-time Angel Tree church coordinator Bev writes.
“We [had] 465 children this year, I hope we can get more next year!” Sara messaged.
“Just would like to say thank you so much to Angel Tree …” texted DaNell.
Now that Christmas is over, the real work has begun! Phone calls, letters, texts and emails from Angel Tree families come pouring into our headquarters and field offices. Praises for happy prisoners’ children served this Christmas, prayers for families still hurting and in need. For churches, too, these next weeks are critical in encouraging the families they met over Christmas to get involved on a permanent basis.
Whether by phone, internet, handwritten letter, or face-to-face interaction, please pray that Angel Tree families continue to connect with local churches and that this year – 2012 – their lives will be changed forever by the love of Jesus Christ.

We are encouraged by Your goodness in the lives of Your people. You have brought us out of darkness into Your marvelous Light where we will enjoy You forever! It is the greatest Gift!

Thank You for Your Grace and Power - to the glory of God the Father Whom we praise in Your Name.

May we realize with joy that our help and hope is in You. And may the light of salvation go boldly into the darkness with Your direction. May we be pleased to be known as Your people by our love for one another!

Richard B. Dear Father, only your love through Jesus Christ can save us. Let that love be transmitted to all families in need this year, and especially for the families of those in prison. Let your healing presence transform hopeless situations into real hope and renewed lives. Inspire and call us to extend that love, for your glory. Amen.

Janice G. Heavenly Father, May the praises You have already received for the Angel Tree Christmas outreach be magnified over and over throughout the whole year of 2012 and beyond! May many be able to say, "It was that Angel Tree gift and love in 2011 that brought Jesus into my life." Thank You, thank You for the great things You have done! I pray for those families who are struggling through the days without their family member who is in prison. Please be an ever present help in trouble times to the children and spouses at home. Keep them well nourished, clothed, transported, educated, employed, and loved. Bless the churches which are able to reach the harvest with a good supply of dedicated workers and resources. Please continue in this great work of breaking down the cycle that keeps families imprisoned through generations. Thank You again for the forever changes You have enabled through Angel Tree. In the name of our blessed Lord and Savior Jesus, I pray, Amen

Jill L. Thank you dear Lord for the ministry of Angel Tree. I praise you for your goodness and your mercies that are new everyday. Today I pray that the Angel Tree families not be forgotten. Their struggles are painful all through the year. Touch their hearts with your Holy Spirit. Soften them so that they sense their need of a Savior. You Lord give strength to the weak. I praise you for that. You Lord are their hope. I praise you for that. May you God of hope fill them with all joy and peace during this difficult time. I pray that the churches that were involved in Angel Tree parties be given a measure of your passion, your peace, your perseverance to reach out to the families they served. The real work has begun. The everyday lives of the families are filled with sadness and discouragement and struggles. Pour out your comfort and your strength to them. Thank you Lord for answered prayers. Thank you Lord for the work you are doing through the power of your Holy Spirit. We praise you because you are worthy of our praise. All glory and all honor goes to the Father for His wonderful plan of redemption. Amen
